The words in red are true

Today's message is meant to help some of you decide to talk to more people about both what they can have by using our tremendous products and the possibilities of the earning opportunity.  As you well know, prospecting is always a challenge but there are people everywhere who need what we have to offer. Please read the following two or three times. Slowly!

It’s really hard to say the wrong thing to the right person at the right time.

How many conversations can you get into today that might lead to eventually have new people come into your organization? Think about it, then decide that today you’re going to do what you know has to be done in order to grow. The right people are out there so it’s really just a matter of making that decision.

Ideas to help you moving forward

I was looking through my highlights of the Go Pro book by Eric Worre and decided to pass along to you some of the things in that book that kind of jumped off the pages for me.  These are just ideas until you start to apply what you're learning.

Enthusiastically,

Gary Burke
Don't use words to describe your situation, use words to change your situation.

Listen to yourself....what kind of words do you use on a daily basis?

"I can't get appointments."                                   "I'm going to have two appts/week."
"I can't seem to sponsor people."                         "I'm going to sponsor 2 per week
"It's really a struggle."                                           "It will get easier as I sponsor people
"I can't get anyone to attend a meeting."                 "I'm going to invite people weekly
"I just don't have time."                                          "I am going to find time for my future."
"I don't understand the compensation plan."            "I'm going to learn what it takes to....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go Pro book....P. 56-57
If I, would you?

If I gave you a DVD, would you watch it?
If I gave you a CD, would you listen to it?
If I gave you a link to a website with a opportunity presentation, would you check it out?
If I could show you how to earn an extra $1000/month, would you take a look at it?
If I invited you to a webinar, would you listen in?
If I could show you how you could feel better, would you take a look at it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a skilled based business  -  You'll need to develop some skills

Skill  - To do something well.
Skill  -  Having ability that comes from knowledge and practice.

What kind of business could you build if you became skilled in three (3) areas?
    1.  Prospecting       2.  Follow-up      3.  Giving presentations

I believe it's about attitude  -  work ethic  -  willingness to learn lessons  -  Being persistent

We all have the same company  -  the same product  -  the same compensation plan  -
But YOU will be the difference between success and failure.

What is it you really want?

When I think back about what we did to get started in building a solid Shaklee business the thing that keeps coming to mind is the idea that it’s about making a simple decision of what is it we really want?

The next thing I recall thinking about is I just have to put myself in motion and then of course keep myself in motion. The word that comes to mind that might best describe what I was thinking was we were in the pursuit of having a successful future.

What is the meaning of being in the pursuit of a future?

Good is the enemy of best. If you settle for something easy to do, you will not try to improve. Pursuit of excellence means efforts towards doing your best. In order to do your best there always seems to be some kind of obstacle that gets in the way. Negative people are always a challenge. Doubtful thinking is probably what stops most people from higher level of achievement.

So basically I’m saying that there are a variety of things that tries to stop us from our personal development and for getting that future we really want.  What are you pursuing?  What is it you really want out of your Shaklee business? Are you totally committed to getting what you want?
Are you doing the right things that you know has to be done to grow this business?

We pursued Master Coordinator for 8 years. Yes, it was a challenge but then what isn’t a challenge that has a great future? Here is my thought: you are capable of doing great things. Yes, that’s right, you are very capable of achieving what it is you want. Are you currently in pursuit of making a difference in your future? Are you keeping yourself in motion? You’ll never regret pursuing your dream. Ever!

Getting started or re-started is key

The following message is from Sandy Dietrich and it is very inspiring because it's always great to read examples like Sandy's. I suggest you read this message two or three times and think about what you can DO and then start doing what you want to DO. THANK YOU Sandy for taking your time to write and inspire people.

Enthusiastically,

Gary Burke

Hi Gary,
This message reminded me to send my “Spring into Shaklee” meeting story!
I have started doing product opportunity meetings again! yay! Last Tuesday there were 10 people there and 4 of them were new people.
Some were downline in my organization.
My PV from just my 3 new people was 1000. I don’t know what the others ordered.
It was so much fun! Yes I still get nervous and it’s hectic pulling it all together, but once I start, my belief and passion takes over!
I’ve said this before – the worst part of Shaklee is the frustration you feel when you want to be growing, but you aren’t “doing” it.
So I’m excited to be growing again!   I encourage others to DO meetings too!
Blessed!
Sandy

It's about personal discipline

One of the most important things we must have in order to grow a solid business is our
personal discipline. At times you will have to keep working even when things appear not
to be working.  Let me say that again – you will have to keep working even when things appear
not to be working. Everyone has days, weeks or even months that aren’t as productive as
other times appear to be. Every day, week or month can’t always be your best and greatest ever.

When you follow a disciplined routine consistently, growth will follow. The most important part
of my routine is to keep myself in motion. When I have people to work with who want to build a business, it is much easier to stay in motion doing things that create growth:  appointments, more
appointment, follow-ups, in-home presentations, meetings, more meetings, helping people develop
their plan.

Questions you might want to ask yourself are as follows:
Am I in motion?
Do I have two to three people in my personal group to work with who are committed to grow?
Am I engaged in growth activities?
Growth activities would be prospecting, appointments, follow-up, more appointments, meetings.

That’s when the business is fun. Have a great week

Gary Burke

A great example

Today's message is from Al Read.

I still strongly believe "Shaklee has something for everyone and everyone needs something Shaklee has" and I'd like to share it whenever possible.

Some time ago as we were waiting for one of your Monday sessions you saw my name and asked how I was doing and then how old are you? I was 93 last September and doing okay I think. I don't consider I have any of the common chronic diseases and I am not on any of the common drugs I still drive and I'm not afraid to do so at night although the farthest I've been alone recently was about 100 miles. We/I have been in Shaklee 38 years and this I take is my own long term study. I give Shaklee credit for still being here.

A story: For my whole life I have never really liked coffee. (I quit about 10 years ago and haven't had a sip since.  I never even started coffee until the Battle of Okinawa when we went on morning General Quarters about 3:30 AM and were given coffee and a sandwich just before that to survive until mid-morning breakfast. The only way for me to get the coffee down was lots of sugar and "god-awful powdered milk.  After we joined Shaklee we "used the products" including Vita-Lea and protein as the training said. After a couple weeks or so I suddenly realized I didn't have the urge every mid-morning and mid-afternoon to go down to the department coffee room for what I now recognize as a "sugar fix."
If it wasn't for Shaklee I believe I'd have developed diabetes and probably the awful things that go with it. I think Jean had diabetes long before Shaklee but with Shaklee and care she managed to keep it under control for a long time without many drugs.

We came to "love" Shaklee but were never successful in building a big business. It was Jean's business and I wanted it to be her success. That's not to say I'd have been any better. Jean and I disagreed on how to present Shaklee to people so I tried to stay out of it even after I retired (in 1990.) Even so, after I retired we were free to go to out-of-town Shaklee meeting like the global conferences, particularly after Roger came on board. I have always been very interested in what Shaklee was doing and continues to do in their research and development. I'm impressed by all I've learned about the Life Sciences since we joined Shaklee. I've been intrigued to realize that the Life Sciences have been advancing equally as much as the Physical Sciences that I consider myself part of.

…my belief  is that "everyone needs Shaklee and that Shaklee has something for everyone.

It's fun to be excited

Here is a great example of personal growth as well as potential business growth Linda Feo. When you change your mind it's always amazing what can take place.

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke

Great hearing from you , Gary!

You'd have been so proud of me today!  Well, actually it started with last nite when I wrote out my goals for this week - who to call -  who to send what to - call Shaklee Field Support re:  Fundraising....

.I challenged myself like I decided I would after getting your message because I KNOW I AM CAPABLE of MORE.....
I have an appointment tomorrow nite - to discuss a fundraising opportunity with a friend who has a non-profit - I've been cultivating and planting seeds with her for 4 years and she is finally excited about the possibilities of partnering with Shaklee.... and with ME!
( it Took 4 years, Gary..... as you know, to build this relationship and her trust.  I tried sharing this with her 4 years ago and she shut me down immediately.... didn't want to hear anything and basically told me she wasn't interested and had NO TIME to add another THING to what she already had on her plate..... Fast Forward 4 years and she has been AFTER ME to get together to hear what I have to say.  All I can say is WOW!
everything you've shared over the years is true in this scenario.....

Then, there's Roger.... I am meeting him Thursday nite..... He is a young 23 yr old - personal trainer at my gym - we've been getting to know each other over the past several months and I recently complimented him on his authentic way with the members and his infectious smile and his "always" positive attitude.... I went on to say I was looking for people with these exact qualities to join me in my business - I mentioned SHaklee, etc, etc.... He asked when we could get together so he could hear more.....  That's happening Thursday......

So ---- I still worked my full day today - and it's onlyl 7:30 pm and I've got two appointments this week. DONE!!!  I just proved to myself that I AM CAPABLE of MORE than I thought was possible with my busy, full time schedule!!  I'm going to continue to plan my weeks out like this and FEEL Way more Directed now.

Your Message couldn't have come at a better time..... Thank you again.
Stay tuned....... :)

Prospecting

Today I’m going to send you a few comments about prospecting because without question this is the most important fundamental we must be doing that helps our businesses grow.  It’s always exciting when we have new people to work with who want  Shaklee offers.    I may have sent these ideas in a past message but it never hurts to repeat important ideas.

1.       Look for people who want what Shaklee has to offer and are willing to do what we do.

2.       You can’t say the wrong thing to the right person. You just can’t. You can’t say the right thing to the wrong person. Ditto! You just can’t.

3.       Our job is NOT to convince or persuade people to get in Shaklee. Our job is to tell the Shaklee story in a very simple manner to as many new people as possible. Business explosion will take place.

4.       Do not become emotionally attached to answers people give…YES or NO. Care about people but you have to discipline yourself to NOT care about answers.

5.       Become the best listener possible. The goal is to ask questions and listen, and allow the other person to do most of the talking.

Those are five simple ideas but yet are very important when it comes to prospecting.

Make today a great day! A challenge for you: talk to at least two new people today about Shaklee.

Have fun today building your future.

Yes you can

The following comments came from Sidney Peters who was a goalie for the Minnesota Gophers hockey team. Sidney was talking about her college experience and all she was involved in during her four years at the university.  She has been accepted to the University of Minnesota Medical School.

“I came away with a lot of lessons and a new perspective on my career and my life. We’re all capable of so much more than we do.”

When I first read her comments, the part that 'we’re all capable of doing more than we do' kind of jumped off the page for me. Let’s think about this idea that you and I are loaded with potential for doing whatever it is we want to do. Another way to think about this is we could be doing much more because we’re all capable of doing much more. Yes, we all are more capable of achieving more.

So what might be holding us back from making progress in reaching our goals.  Would you like to double or triple your monthly PV? Would you like to increase your personal sponsoring?  Would you like to double or triple your Shaklee income? Is there a specific Shaklee rank you would like to achieve?

It starts with our thinking. It’s about accepting the idea that yes, we are capable of doing whatever it is we want to do. Then make a decision that yes, I’m going to _____________________.
If that is what you desire, do it. You do have what it takes to build your future to higher levels.

Don’t accept anything that might stop you from doing and becoming what ever it is you want. I believe all of us are capable of doing so much more. Let’s do it!

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke

Don't be afraid to dream

When I first learned about this business I had questions like most people do.  It seemed to me to be a dream because it was offering a new future. I attended every meeting possible and I kept hearing the same story but from different people. They didn’t all use the same words but it became very clear to me that what I was hearing was the idea that we could have a wonderful future. Actually, it was quite amazing and it still is amazing the kind of future people can build with Shaklee.

One thing I learned over the years is yes, it’s true, people can literally change their lives by building this business. But I also must say that we don’t want to just wait for a new future, we have to decide that we’re going to build our future. It won’t just happen. We have to make the decision that we want a new future, then we have to make it happen.

Take some time during the next few days and think about the kind of future you would want.  Think about it, talk about it, write some goals, then think about it again. What would you like your Shaklee business to look like 6 months from now? A year from now? How about 5 years from now? Don’t be afraid to dream about what you want your future to look like.

Once you know exactly what you want your future to look like, and be like, the next step is to make a decision. Yes, it will take time. Yes, it will be difficult at times. Yes, you will have personal growth, yes, you will help lots of people along the way, and yes, you will eventually earn more than you need. And finally, many people will call you lucky because they will see how you’ve changed personally and how you are able to live a very fun life.

You’ll never regret doing what it takes to change your life by making that decision to build your future.

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke

It's about our thoughts

Hey, this week is the Masters Golf event. Tiger is back! Yea Tiger, go get em! Bubba Watson, a two time winner of the Masters, made the following comment  in the newspaper yesterday: “Golf is really easy when you free it up. It’s very difficult when you’re not thinking properly.”

The first thing that came to mind when I read that is this business is easy when we keep it simple, but it’s very difficult when we’re not thinking properly. I am a golfer, let me also say that I’m not a very good golfer, especially when I’m set to hit the ball and I have thoughts running through my mind like, “Get set up, be more upright, slow backswing, cock wrists, follow through, I’m ready, I hope this is better than my last shot.” Yikes!

Yes, I believe this business is very simple. Our thoughts are what stops us from doing what we’re capable of doing. I say that because I recall very vividly the many, many times I would have negative thoughts come to mind. “What if they aren’t interested?  Maybe they aren’t home, I’ll call later. What should I say? What if they are interested and ask me what to do? What if they ask some questions?” Is my presentation good enough? I think many of you can relate with some of these comments.

As far as I’m concerned, our job is to learn by repetition. We just have to be willing to do the fundamentals over and over and over. I guarantee you will get better. I would love to have my first 10 to 30 opportunity presentations recorded - we all could have a few laughs.

GO TIGER!

It's about networking

The following is another example of the importance of networking.   I think the belief each of us need is to understand that learning about networking can help us have continued growth.
The following are comments from Jack Canfield about the importance of becoming a excellent networker.

Gary Burke
One of the most important skills for success in today's world, especially for entrepreneurs and business owners, is networking.
This is because businesses and careers are built on relationships. So, while it's true that you can achieve success on your own, having relevant connections in your network will propel you to success faster (and further) than you originally envisioned.
You've probably heard the saying, "Your network will determine your net worth"... and it's true!
The more time I've spent consciously building and nurturing my network of friends, advisors, colleagues, clients, students, and fans, the more successful I've become.
In developing your own personal network, it's important to seek out people who know what you don’t—and who can help you connect where you can't. You should ask them for advice, connections, recommendations, and insights, and provide the same in return.
Just remember this... Success isn't only dictated by what you know, but who you know.

Jack Canfield

Let's make April a great month.

The following excellent quote is from Chris Williams, who authored and recorded the audio book
Don’t Just Dream It, Do It.

“When I used to spend lots of time thinking about who I could recruit into my team or sell my products to, I struggled to sponsor anyone. When I shifted my thinking and started to figure out who I could help with our products and who I could support to change their life for themselves and their family with our business opportunity, then suddenly my customer and sponsoring numbers went through the roof.”

I think one of the major keys to growing this business is we have to learn to keep our focus on other people not on ourselves.  How can we help someone benefit with our products and of course with the opportunity?  The whole process becomes about the prospect. When people see that you are genuinely interested in helping in some way they become more open-minded. Have a great first week in April!

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke
