What do you emphasize?

The following is a quote from a Minnesota Vikings football coach talking about coaching:

"It's like being a parent. If you emphasize to your children about looking both ways before they cross the street, they're going to do it. Coaching is like that. You get what you emphasize."

It struck me that in our business it's about teaching and coaching. That quote is obviously elementary, but very accurate. I sat for a few minutes and kind of thought it through about what it is that we emphasize in this business. What Faye and I have emphasized over the years is this business is building a future, teaching and coaching, building consistent volume, finding people who want what we have and are willing to do what we do. It's about building a unique lifestyle.

Kind of simple, isn't it? "You get what you emphasize." Think about it for a few minutes. What is it that you emphasize when you're talking to people about this business? Put another way, what do you focus on when talking to people? For me, this simple principle has huge potential to affect this business. It is what it is. What we emphasize is what we're going to get.
