I want to talk a little about investing in yourself. I learned somewhere that the reason I should invest in myself is because no one else is as interested in me as me. I think the same goes for you. The reason you should make it a point to invest in yourself is because no other person will do it for you. The investment could be translated into growth, progress, moving forward, or very simply success at a higher level.
Each of us is the one who has to decide what's important in our lives. If we don't take the bull by the horns and decide what's important to us, we will probably be doing things or working at something that is important to someone else. We can increase our probability for succeeding by being decisive, focused and taking action every day. Just doing something positive every day will make a difference.
The following is from the book An Enemy Called Average by John Mason.
"The greater the degree of wishful thinking, the greater degree of mediocrity."
Investing in yourself can be very simple. Start your personal library. Buy a book and read a chapter every day. Send yourself a positive note...hey, why not? Plan a meeting. Do the meeting because now you're in charge. Make that phone call you meant to make last week. As it says above, wishful thinking isn't going to get the job done. A major investment in yourself is making the decision to be in Long Beach, CA at the annual Shaklee conference. This is one investment in yourself you want to make every year. It is vital you be there if you have the dream of growing yourself and your business to higher levels.
Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke
