For those of you who want to grow your business

I've been thinking the past few weeks about some of the conversations I've been in as well as just listening to others talk about this business. Everyone wants to grow. Grow themselves, their skills, their monthly PV and of course their earnings. Moving forward is where the future is and getting better at whatever we want to see improve is what it takes.   Here we go again, another message of improvement, getting better and having fun doing it. Fall is around the corner so it's back to basics.

I want to reflect back on the major issue of getting started or maybe it's re-started. It's almost fall and football is in the media big time. It's that time of year again. I remember when I was a kid on my first team. We ran simple drills every day and if I heard it once I heard it a million times that "We have to get better at the basics if we want to win." The basics are the same as saying fundamentals. In 5th and 6th grade we heard about the fundamentals. In middle school, 7th, 8th and 9th grade we heard the same thing and worked at developing those fundamentals. When I got to high school, same thing. I played four years of college football and we worked at the same fundamentals as we did when I was in 5th and 6th grade and believe it or not the in today's world the professionals work at the same things.

So what's my point: if you want to have higher monthly PV, get to a higher rank, earn two or three times what you're currently earning, qualify for the incentives Shaklee offers, then it's back to doing the basics of this business.   Think back to when you first got involved.   What did you do? Now think about what you're doing now on a weekly basis. Are you doing the same basics as you did then? If you are my bet would be that you're growing. You've gotten better at doing those basics that are needed to move you and your future forward.

Technology is different but the basics are the basics. Think about it.

Gary Burke

Here is the secret for succeeding

You don't success your way to success.
You fail your way to success.

- Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz, Go for NO!

The above is probably the absolute best description I've ever come across that mentions what it's going to take to be successful. Not just in this business but in anything and everything people may try. Ask anyone you know who is successful in anything if they agree with this statement below. Anyone at any level of success at anything.

What this is really saying is that if we truly want to achieve our goals, we better get busy learning lots of lessons.

HealthPrint is an awesome tool

The following message is an example for using the HealthPrint as a great prospecting tool as well as potential PV growth with the follow-up step. Cokkie Eaker really sees the potential of this very unique tool called HealthPrint.

Hi Gary,

OMG, you wouldnt believe what just happened to me.... in one day I received 30 completed Healthprint assessments!!!

I had asked one college student to forward the Healthprint to some of her friends, and now I have 30 new prospects!   College students dont have great eating habits, they are under stress during exams, AND they are always looking to earn a few extra bucks!  Some of them need extra spending money, some of them are paying for tuition themselves, some of them may want to go home for the Holidays or off to FL for Spring Break.  The list is endless and we have a solution!

The key will be in follow-up and so the sorting continues....  Please tell HQ I'm losing sleep over this and to top it off, Shaklee's Gentle Sleep Complex is on back order!!!

Having fun in Atlanta,
Cokkie Eaker

What will it take?

I don't know how many of you took some time to watch the Olympics during the past two weeks but I certainly did. It wasn't just watching the athletes compete, it was all the incredible stories of the commitment it took for many Olympians to qualify as an Olympian.  Some quit jobs, moved to another state just to work with a specific coach, some trained daily for hours and still held a part time job. Bottom line was commitment.

I'm not sure of the commitment it takes for every person in our business, but I do believe if more people would commit to 10 to 15 hours a week and they were consistent with their effort for a couple years, they would have improved their income that would last for decades. A question is are you inspired at all about getting yourself to the next level? The next level might mean to double your monthly PV, or get to the next higher rank within the system, or to increase your monthly income by $1000 to $2000 a month.

The key is finding the hours and then being consistent with your effort. Believe me I get it that life is busy. But if you really want to improve everything about your business it does take time. Here is my thought. There are 168 hours in a week and everyone has the same number to work with. If you can commit to 10 hours a week, that would be 40 hours a month or over 400 hours a year.

Do you realize the kind of business you would have at the end of one year by investing 10 hours a week? It's stunning!  To think that we have the kind of business where a person can increase their income by $10,000 to $20,000 annually is amazing to me. It's real folks.  We have the opportunity that literally pays a person according to their commitment. Think about it.

Growth is on its way!

If you are interested in growing your business I suggest you read the following message sent out by Jeanne Toovell.  I couldn't agree more with what Jeanne is saying in this message.  Excellent!

Enthusiastically,

Gary Burke
Dear Team Toovell:

If any of your remember my words on the final afternoon, I said that this convention, " will change the trajectory of shaklee forever."
Why, did I believe that? I believed that because for the very first time, we have taken our impeccable, incredible science and combined it  with the innovative technology that is now available to us all.

I also remember referring to Eric Worre's book, "Go Pro 7 Steps to becoming a Network Marketing Professional."
I remembered ever so clearly one of his most powerful passages to me.I had to find it so here it goes and with your permission I have added some words in green of my own.

"For building a large and duplicating organization, I have found that a tool is a better first step. Remember our goal is education and understanding. We want people to know what we have and understand how it can benefit their lives. A tool is a great way for people to become educated(and hopefully) excited in the middle of their busy lives. They might not have time to drive across town to meet with you, but they can watch a DVD, etc or take a 5-7 minute Healthprint assessment."

"If you were to look back at my career, you'd see that tools changed everything for me. In 1990, my company came out with a video that was dynamic and exciting, Even though it was wildly expensive at $15.00 each, back then it was worth it, because when you learned how to invite people to watch the video, take a 5-7 minute Healthprint, the results were dramatic."

"Everyone in the company became focused on a daily method of operation that centered around inviting people to watch a video, take a 5-7 minute Healthprint. We allowed no distraction. Our entire culture revolved around this strategy and our growth went through the roof. Events were still very important, but they were a second step after a person watched our video," took a 5-7 minute Healthprint.

"By adopting this new approach, my organization finally broke out, and I was able to enjoy the experience of having a group that grew with or without me. It was more fun that I can describe. My group grew from a few dozen to a few hundred and then to a few thousand. All I did was learn how to successfully invite people to watch a video, take a 5-7 minute Healthprint, follow it up with an invitation to an event, and teach everyone else to do the same thing."

"Let me give you my formula for financial independence in Network Marketing"
"Your ability to get a large group of people to consistently do a few simple things over an extended period of time."

Don't complicate this Shaklee Family :-*

I have one question for you all?

When was the last time that the Shaklee field in less than two weeks, introduced 28,571 people to a new tool, and have them complete it, and return it to them? Team-you have to get people in the pipeline before you can find people who want our products and want the opportunity that we believe so strongly in......happy health print assessments! This is how you find people!

There was one tool, 34 years ago, that got us into Shaklee, it was "a :Piece of the Action", we,looked it over many times.
As Dan Henderson said to me in the hall," Our products have always been our best tool, now the best tool, is Health Print!"

Hope you took the time to read this through, makes a lot of sense to me. Thank you Shaklee!

Jeanne & Steve Toovell

Dave Ramsey is wrong!

The following message from Eric Worre is about 14 minutes but it is an excellent message that describes this Network Marketing business.   Excellent message.

Network Marketing Pro
Hi Cindy Jacobson,

Recently I heard a Dave Ramsey radio show episode where a young female asked Dave his thoughts about a network marketing opportunity that she was interested in. I respect Dave and his work, but his response and advice about the network marketing profession was totally off-base, and it lit a fire under me...

I'm here to end the myths, misunderstanding, misinformation and teach the truth about network marketing. Click to watch this week's show to get the full story and my rebuttal to Dave.

Health Print

The following is a tremendous example of the power of HealthPrint for this business.  After you read the entire message open the spread sheet Cokkie is using for tracking her efforts.  Very impressive.

Gary

Gary,

I dont know where to begin, this "HP business" is taking over my brain!   I find it to be a great recruiting tool and although I agree with Barb Lagoni's comments, I dont agree 100%....

I ask my friends to forward the survey to their friends:
- they are "free" prospects, similar to a Shaklee Open House for your downline.  I dont know them but at least something sparked their interest to participate, and, who knows, when I follow up I may have a new customer or business builder!
- I asked my friends to help me get to 100 in 30 days, and wouldnt you know, everyone is eager to help me reach my goal!
- I have reconnected with some distant friends and now my calendar is filling up with relationship building activities.  We all now how valuable that can be!  HP has given me the "excuse" to reconnect!

I ask solid customers to forward the survey to their friends:
- I put a little incentive on it and it sparked their interest to reach out and talk about Shaklee!  (incentive: 20 completed HP = 1 Vitalizer)
- HP is a great example how to build your business or customer base without feeling overwhelmed.

I ask "strangers":
I am very involved in Rotary International and email correspond with quite a number of "strangers".  HP and the 100 day challenge made me bold: every email I send to someone I dont really know ends with the paragraph "I'd like to ask a favor of you...."  One of my 21 completed HP surveys was from one of these strangers and she is interested in talking to me about our Shaklee vitamins, she loved the HP!  If not for HP, I would have never been able to connect with her since our ships only crossed once and on a totally different path!

OK, so here are some stats:
- saturday, August 6 during the morning workshop, I sent out approx 15 texts asking for HP participation
saturday, 9pm (!) I received 6 HP results of which 2 were from people I do not know - wow!!!
One week later I have 21 completed HP assessments of which I initiated only 12.  Total sent: 39 in 3 days.  (I had to catch up with follow-up before sending out more HP invites.)

This may not seem like a lot but for me it is a BIG DEAL!
Terry Slattery taught us back in the Oconomowoc days about the "funnel of prospects" - you start with 100 prospects and then the sorting begins and you may end up with 5 solid business builders and/or customers.  HP gives us the tool to reach 100 prospects!  This tool is perfect because it gives budget options which I feel is such a simple and easy way to steer the conversation to the business opportunity of Shaklee.  If someone says they cant afford our type of products, we have a solution for them!

I am super excited about my future within the Shaklee business model.  I can now dream with confidence!

Best,
Cokkie Eaker

Excellent comment about Healthprint

The following posted on Facebook by Barbara Lagoni -

Health Print ALERT .. I am nervous about people sending out our terrific new Health Print survey without making an appointment to help people " review their results" .... The conversation we can have around the Health Print is the greatest benefit of it ... NOT the mere quantity we can somehow disseminate. Therefore ...Raise your right hand and repeat after me ...." I WILL NOT SEND A HEALTHPRINT WITHOUT MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO REVIEW THE RESULTS There .. now I feel better!

It's never too late to have fun

Gary and I just returned from Orlando on Sunday morning and I’ll be honest, I was pooped – early mornings & late nights, inspiring General Sessions, workshops featuring a ton of new leaders telling their stories (which were designed for every level in Shaklee) - most fun of all, spending time with Shaklee friends both old and new. In addition, it was great fun to have Rachel and her husband and kids in Orlando with us (one reason for the late nights).

I want to tell you about two Business Leaders I ran into.

I was so excited to see the first couple in line the very first morning. They haven't attended a Shaklee convention in years.  I think it’s fair to say that they have been in Shaklee semi-retirement - they have downline Leaders and have kept a personal group volume but haven’t really been engaged in growing their business for many years. But, because when they were “all-in” they built a solid business – they continue to receive pretty nice bonus checks year in and year out.  They decided to attend Shaklee Live in Orlando this year thinking about getting more active.

The second was a young woman I didn’t run into until lunch on Saturday.  Since I haven’t seen her in many years, I asked what she had been up to. She said, “life had gotten in the way” – including 3 new babies and business reverses – and just maybe had lost her dream.  Even though they hadn’t worked their business since 2008 that Shaklee bonus check for about $1500 came in every month. They too had worked hard for over 5 years to build a solid business.

Some of you reading this might have your own version of their stories. You have been in Shaklee semi-retirement – you haven’t been to an annual convention in years – perhaps you’ve given up on your dream of accomplishing more in your business – and yet, Shaklee has still been depositing a bonus check in your account every month

Gary and I would like to encourage you to dust off some of your Shaklee materials – go to myshaklee.com and look at the new materials – listen to some of the videos Shaklee has produced in the last few years – log-into a webinar – plan to be in Atlanta.

You could be inspired by a Tiffany Vin who at 22, is building the foundation of her Shaklee business – or, by Doris Johnson who when she was 88 last September stated her goal was to reach a new rank – Key Coordinator – AND THEN DID IT!  You are never too young – you are never too old. You can be excited to start a career in Shaklee – or, you can reignite a business that has been stagnant.

The conference is fun – there is new growth – there is both old leadership that imparts wisdom and new leadership – The best company leadership ever – the home office collaborates with the field in the planning of the conference. The conference is positive. And, if you haven’t been to an annual conference in a long time – there are going to be people there that will be thrilled to see you.

Some words that might inspire you

Today I'm going to just give you some ideas and quotes from various books I've been reading over the past few decades.   None of these are my ideas as they came from different authors. When I wrote them down to save I didn't think I'd be using them to send out. I saved these because I was inspired by the words.

You will never change your actions until you change your mind.

The most important thing you can ever do in life is find a dream worth chasing.

When a person makes a decision to pursue, the facts don't count. The past doesn't count.  The odds don't count.  The only thing that matters is the decision to pursue your dream.

Somebody is always doing what somebody else said couldn't be done.  Dare to think unthinkable thoughts.

You are judged by what you finish, not by what you start.

The following are the words of John Wesley. Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can. At all times you can. To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.

Are you going after a dream?

I've been watching the Olympics on TV as much as I can as I love the competition and especially the various stories about some of the participants.   To take part in the Olympics is a dream for so many and the dream starts when they are young and of course at those ages kids aren't afraid to dream.

Yesterday I heard a short interview of one of the female gymnastic participants. I didn't catch the question she was asked but I loved what she said as she talked about why she works so hard for so many years to become an Olympic Champion. She was talking about her work ethic and she said, "I hate regret."   Then she went on to explain how regret inspired and motivated her to focus and work hard.

I wonder how many people in the Shaklee business regret not doing what they set out to do. In this business we are independent and it's up to the individual to face obstacles and to hang in there even when it doesn't seem to be working. I can remember talking to myself and telling myself that I really want what Shaklee offers and I'm not going to allow anything or anyone to stop me from going after my dream. I wasn't going to regret not doing what has to be done.

When you think of that word, regret, can you relate in some way? This business is about being or becoming mentally tough.  Some people criticize and make negative comments and that is one of the first tests most of us have. I heard the comments. I've been through times when I wondered if this was really going to work the way I wanted it to. I have NO REGRETS. How about you?

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke

Back from Orlando, one of the best ever!

I'm sitting here at my desk thinking about how I can maybe encourage people to never, ever, miss one of the annual conferences Shaklee does every summer. This past week in Orlando was very special. It was tremendous, inspiring, energized, and every other word that means excellent. You don't ever want to miss a conference, especially if you want to see growth in your business.

I asked one of the home office VPs how many registered for Orlando and he said just under 5000. I knew there was more than the past few years and was thrilled to know it was almost 5000 because that means people are out in the field working at building their future. The paragraph below is from Roger Barnett. It's also probably in your computer. Please read it and make the decision today as you read it to be at the Atlanta conference next August, 20017. Then decide to promote the 2017 conference every week in your meetings around the country.

We have an incredible offer for everyone for the next 36 hours. Conference registration fee is just $169 or $17 per month. As you are planning the best way to spend your time over the next 36 hours, I believe the single best investment in growing your volume and income for 2016 and beyond would be to spend that time encouraging every member of your organization to register by midnight on Monday. The more people from your organization who attend, the much greater likelihood your income would grow. By double digits.

This is about investing in yourself. In this business we are all independent business owners and we should always be ready to invest in ourselves. Invest your time and your money in yourself. That means to invest in your local meetings, area meetings by your uplines and national events. Things are getting ready to explode folks.

Don't miss this new wave of fun, growth and excitement.

Enthusiastically,

Gary Burke

We're off to Orlando

One thing attending the annual Shaklee conference does is rekindle dreams that people have. It is each person's responsibility to put themselves in an environment that inspires and motivates.  I can guarantee you that is exactly what's going to happen this week at the Orlando conference. I've been attending these annual conferences for over 45 years and I get re-inspired every year.

Here is a quote from the book LEAD by Sam Adeyemi. Simple but very accurate.

"If you can see the future, it is just a matter of time before you become that future. You must have a dream, because your dreams will become your reality."

We are off on a very early flight from Minneapolis to Orlando. I will resume these daily messages next week. Make your week be a great one.

Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke
