Interesting principles

The following are different ideas or principles I’ve found that have helped me guide me
so maybe one of these might be meaningful for you.

Growth doesn’t get started until you do.

Many people get paralyzed by always planning what they’re going to do.

Here is one of my favorites – You learn as you go, not before you go.

Here is another favorite of mine – “Getting ready” often gives a person the feeling of
making progress, but it’s a delaying tactic that gets
                                                                in the way.

Give these simple words some attention and take some time to evaluate where you are
in the world that continually says taking action is the path for growth and success.

Asking questions to new prospects

The state fair is here in Minnesota, cooler weather, Labor Day in a few days and kids getting ready for school.  I guess it’s just that time of year and that also means that it’s a great time for many people to get themselves geared up to talking to people about this incredible Shaklee opportunity.

I just want to address a simple principle about making the next few months the best you’ve ever had.  It’s about talking to people.  It’s about being willing to be uncomfortable.  It about working with purpose and getting out of our comfort zone.

This isn’t only about talking to people already in Shaklee, although we certainly want to do that.   If we want to grow we have to be bringing new people into this business which of course means we have to be talking to new people about what Shaklee has to offer.

One of the most important skills we can have in this business is asking questions and getting into conversations with new people and be a good listener.   Just think for a minute.  Asking questions!  Getting into conversations.  Discovering wants and needs of people not in this business.  Simple, right?   Asking questions and listening are two very important skills.

Why is it that many of us don’t ask more questions to new prospects?  I believe the answer to that simple question is we’re afraid of what the answer might be.   Here is the point of the message……Ask questions and don’t be afraid of the answers.   Maybe be nervous but don’t be afraid of the possible answers.

Here is my suggestion for growing your future.  Ask more questions and don’t be afraid of what the answers might be.   Try it.  Today!

Is having your business grow vital for your future?

Most people learning a new skill know they must give it their full attention because they are in an area of
unfamiliarity. The following is a short story I found in a magazine years ago.

Jamaica was once a British Colony and used the British monetary system of pounds, shillings, and pence.  After Jamaica received it's independence the system was changed to dollars and cents. The new government faced a problem.because a good percentage of the population was illiterate.

Officials wondered, "How are the people going to learn to change from the pound to the dollar system? Classes?"  A wise man answered astutely.  "It won't be necessary to have formal classes.  Money is vital to people, so they will learn the new system quickly and correctly."  And they did.

The principle is true. People quickly learn what they consider vital to their lives.

Is it vital for you to learn how to get appointments?  Is it vital to you to sponsor more people?  Is it vital to you that you double your monthly PV?  Is it vital to you to reach a new rank this next year so you qualify for a trip?   Is it vital to you to become a better leader?   Is it vital to you to triple your monthly income?

If it is vital to you to create new growth and the above story is true, what are you going to do with this new opportunity?  You will quickly learn what you consider to be vital to your future.

It's time to take advantage of the opportunity

What a terrific conference that was in Atlanta last week. I have heard many people say this was by far the best Shaklee conference they have ever attended.  The introduction of the new products was very exciting to say the least.  I personally believe that as the next couple of months go by we're going to be hearing about the incredible results that have taken place. Especially the YOUTH skin care.   Sponsoring is going to increase, personal PV is going to increase, and the earnings will also be increasing.

What's important now is that we make up our mind to take advantage of this incredible opportunity.  The following quote is from Dr. Bob Rotella and when I first read this it kind of jumped off the page.  Think about the following quote.

"You need to understand that what you say to yourself influences your confidence. Self-talk can be a great tool for improving confidence.  But it can erode confidence just as easily."

The point is that what we say to our self really makes a huge difference. The way I look at it is it's up to each person to work at making sure you pay attention to what you are saying to yourself. We have choices......"I can take advantage of this opportunity."  or maybe it's "I will take advantage of this opportunity."     If you find yourself saying, "Yes, but......."   or  "What if .........?   That stops progress. The major idea is that it's up to each individual to work on your personal development. Your future depends on you becoming the best you can be. Don't compare yourself with someone else. Just make up your mind that you're going to grow yourself as well as growing your business.

Atlanta is going to be terrific!

This is a follow up on the message about being optimistic. I guess my belief is that we can never get enough optimism in our lives. Optimism certainly doesn't guarantee that you'll experience more success in building your business, but it does improve your chances.

This is another quote from Dr. Bob Rotella.

"While the correlation between optimism and success is imperfect, there is an almost perfect correlation between negative thinking and failure."

The point in this is it helps to do whatever it takes to be the most positive person you can become because that is what really improves our chances to become what we're capable of becoming.

Have a wonderful week and for those of you going to Atlanta, I look forward to seeing you.

NOTE:  My next daily  message will be Monday, August 14th as we will be in Atlanta all week.

New thinking requires new goals

Moving forward seems to always be the heart of the messages I send out and for good reason, we all want to do the best we can do and become the best person we can. Here is an interesting quote I found in a magazine:

Is your present way of thinking consistent with the level you want your business to grow?

Are you ready or in the process of getting yourself ready to attend the Atlanta conference next week?  It’s going to be an exciting time and I say that because we’ve attended every annual conference since we’ve been in this business and we always leave thinking bigger and are excited about the future.  There is something about being at a conference with a couple thousand people that creates new thinking and new ideas for growth.

I do the same thing every year after the conference is over. On the flight home I will look through my notes, start thinking about this next year, ask myself some questions, and start writing out some possible new goals.  New goals are always fun and I always have big thoughts and ideas. Pay attention to your thinking and make sure you are headed in the right direction. This next year is going to be one of the best ever. I just have a gut feeling about that. New thinking requires new goals. Get ready!
