"There's a Better Way" Video

Thanks to Renee Drew for sending me the following example about recruiting up in this business.  I've watched this three times now and get inspired every time.  This video is very well done and worth your time to watch it as it is a tremendous example of the power of our business.

3 Questions, 3 Answers

Do you know what you really want?

Are there some people in your life you want to talk to but haven't done it yet?

Are you making the kind of progress you're capable of making?

If you don't go after what you want, You'll never have it.

If you don't ask, the answer is always no.

If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.

Wisdom for your growing business

I suggest you read the following short message from Go for No! slowly as this can help give you the wisdom you will need to build your dream. You might consider saving this to read many times in the future.
-Gary Burke

When you are looking for validation of your work or ideas through each yes or no, you will put yourself on a painful emotional roller coaster ride. And although you can have massive influence, ultimately you have no control over what people are going to do or decide.

Therefore, the truest way to have peace in your life and business is to separate yourself from the outcome.  Can you control what someone else is going to do? No. But you have total control over your behavior. Execute the behaviors you know it takes to reach your goals, in this case, 'going for no' and making the asks and don’t look for validation in the results.

Don't slow down to interpret each yes or no as a tea leaf prediction for your future success. The people who take the time to share with you why you won't succeed, have no idea what you're capable of and have no special insight into your future. Don't seek that approval (simply say, "that's interesting!") and keep moving forward with your plan.

Full-time income with part-time effort

I'm not going to say much on the following quote from Kenneth Blanchard because it's so simple but yet so very powerful.

There is a difference between interests and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you only do it when it is convenient.  When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.

What's amazing about this Shaklee business is when a person is committed to spending 12 to 15 hours a week doing the right things, they end up with a full time income with part time effort. Think about it. Are you interested in building your dream or are you committed to it?

50 year old quote is very inspiring

Today's message is from a man who could be called one of the fathers of teaching what it takes to be successful.  The first time I read this statement was about 43 years ago and I was very inspired then and when I read it now, it is still very inspiring. I'm going to try to break his quote into simple points. Here's Napoleon Hill:

"Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things! and powerful things at that, when mixed with definiteness of purpose, and burning desire, can be translated into riches."

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieveHow's your belief in yourself?

Thoughts are things - these are an amazing three words.  How's your thinking?

Definiteness of purpose and burning desire - purpose and desire working together creates magic. What's your purpose? Desire to do what it takes?

You can predict your future

Here we are in the middle of January so I hope you are on target for your start of 2016. As you well know, time seems to fly by when we reflect back. When we look forward it's a different story; we think we have lots of time, so it's easy to put things off until tomorrow. Don't forget that new goals always require new thinking.

Tom Landry, the former NFL coach, said, "Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan."

Have you given thought to the steps you'll take to achieve your new goals?  I was listening to a CD yesterday and I heard, "Life follows our thoughts."  Read those words again. How are your thoughts shaping up in this new year?   What comes to my mind as I sit here is an idea I heard years ago about our future. It goes like this: do you want to know what your future will be like? Just listen to yourself think because what you think about you will bring about.

Life does indeed follow our thinking.  What kind of life do you want?

What helps to create change?

When I first heard about this business I was very curious.  As time went on and I learned more I started to believe this business is true. I went from curious to what if it's true, to I think I can do it, to I know we can do it...belief!

From the book: The Answer by John Assaraf - The first step is to accept the fact that you are in the driver's seat: your life is your creation, and the principal tool you have used to create it is your beliefs. If you want to change things, then decide what beliefs you want to have.

In this business it's a matter of believing in the products, the opportunity, the system, the company, and most of all to have belief in yourself. Nothing can stop a person who has belief and is willing to talk to people about an idea that has potential to be life-changing.

Are you ready?

This message is a formula for becoming successful in any business or activity you can think of. The mental work in our business simply means using the products, attending meetings, having a good understanding of the opportunity, setting your personal goals, and having a simple plan for moving forward. Phil Jackson played in the NBA (National Basketball Association) for many years and then became one of the best coaches in the history of the NBA. He said, “Once you have done the mental work, there comes a point you have to throw yourself into action and put your heart on the line.”

If you are wondering how to make 2016 your best year ever, the message above should be a part of your plan. The question to ask yourself is simple. Am I ready mentally to make this an exceptional year?

Step across the line in the sand

When I think back about what we did to build our business I keep getting reminded of the fact that I didn't feel I had the skills it would take to build. But when I went to meetings I always got encouraged as I heard the simple opportunity presentation of the kind of future a person could have. I wanted that future, but in order to get that kind of future I was going to have to step across the line in the sand and take some risks.

For me it wasn't easy as I had never done this type of work before. My bet would be that most of the people who read this message also didn't have the skills when they got started. For most of us, it was either take the risk at whatever was holding us back, or just wish our life away and hope that something magical might happen.

It was a risk to talk to someone about the business. "What if they ask questions?"  What if they say "No?" It was also a risk to make calls - again the "What if's" would be in my mind. I think I could go on and on and tell you about all the risks it took to build. As I look back here is what I learned about building this business: I knew it was going to be risky, but I learned to look at risk as a path that would eventually lead to growth. To say the same thing another way it would be this: no risk, no growth. Take the risk and learn or forget about living the dream.  Kind of harsh but true. Take some risks this week. You'll be glad you did.
